Whatever you call them (skill games, skill based games, skillgames, etc.), the idea is pretty simple: they're games that you play that test your skill in unique, individual ways. There are literally thousands and thousands of skill games out there, both online and offline, all designed to test your mettle and determine if you have what it takes to succeed at that game.

While some skill games are solo pursuits, many pit you against another opponent, battling head to head. Again, it completely depends on the type of game you like to play. If you prefer solitary word puzzles, arcade games, and trivia games, there are plenty to choose from; if you prefer playing against a real, live opponent, there's chess, backgammon, poker, and much, much more.
